SENIOR FOOTBALL
St Fintan’s man Jim Rossitter was once again a member of the Wexford senior football team when it travelled to Glenaby to take on Antrim in its first game of the Allianz league div.4. Though beaten by six points this was quite a competitive game with Jim playing a major role in his position in the full back line. We hope to see Jim in action once again when Carlow will be the opponents in a home fixture in Chadwicks Wexford Park.
ALL STAR
Wexford town lady, St Fintan’s star lady footballer and a member of the Wexford county football team for over 20 years Mary Rose Kelly has decided to retire from inter county football. Ballymore was where this incredible journey began and we hope to see her play for many more years to come with St Fintan’s.
Mary Rose was also a star at soccer and camogie, but her most memorable and rewarding moment was when she was presented with her first O’Neills/ TG4 All Star for her outstanding performances with Wexford when reaching the all-Ireland final at intermediate level in 2007. We wish Mary Rose all the best in her business venture in Wexford town and thank her for representing St Fintan’s and our county with such pride and passion.
CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISER
A big thank you and congratulations to the Walsh family of Trimmers lane who through its annual Christmas lights display raised €815 for Temple street hospital. This fundraiser has been going on for some 15 years and the family and those that support are to be thanked for their generosity. Well done, all.
SCHOOLS FOOTBALL
St Fintan’s club players Shane Pettit and Jack O’Leary played an integral part in St Peter’s College triumphant win against local rivals Good Counsel New Ross in the Senior Schools last 16 Football Championship last Wednesday. The game was played at home in Power Park Summerhill with a large supporting crowd in attendance. Scores came from both St Fintan’s club men with Jack claiming 1-1 and Shane scoring five points. Liam Crowley is also a panel member. At time of going to print the Leinster Senior Schools ‘A’ quarter final V Coláiste Eoin Dublin is fixed for Wednesday the fifth.
COUNTY UNDER-20 FOOTBALL
St Fintan’s player Shane Pettit is a member of the Wexford under-20 Football panel who will contest their first championship game V Carlow in St Patrick’s Park Enniscorthy this coming Friday night at 8 p.m. This is a straight know out game. Best of luck to Shane and all his teammates.
WOMEN’S SHED
The Shed plays host to over 40 members of Deise Women’s Shed on Monday, February 3. The group from Dungarvan will share ideas on activities, crafts etc before enjoying a light lunch.

A flavour of the play: 1934, a rural pub in a village on the south coast of Ireland. Returned Yank, Johnny Kinnane has eight hours to salvage the rapidly decaying carcass of a 60 foot whale. General Eoin O’Duffy plans to attend the Blueshirt Dance in the Parish Hall while a 16-year-old would-be jockey dreams of victory in the Cemetery Sunday Races and a Jewish refugee with a clarinet and a clapped-out truck sets out to make a new life for himself and his daughter. An electricity generating bicycle, an open air jazz dance and a daring triumph of the imagination in a climate of communal hysteria – these are just some of the elements which combine to form this fantastic piece of theatre.

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION WALKS.
St Fintan’s GAA Club are taking part in the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ walking initiative in partnership with the GAA and Operation Transformation. The club will host a community walking group two nights a week during the broadcast period of the hit RTÉ show. The walks will take place 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday night for the eight-week period. Participants in the community walks will need to sign in each night before walking. Come along and join in.

ALL BLACKS AFC

Our under-11 team travelled to Forth Celtic mid week and came out on top v the home side with great team performance by all seven girls involved. As Forth had a number of extra players our under-nines were invited up for a game also and acquitted themselves very well against the home side well done to all eight involved.
It was our under-nines who where first out at home this weekend, as they welcomed Curracloe to big barn, unfortunately with illness there was only six available and they put in a great performance with Chloe and Nia getting goals. well done girls.
Up next our second under-16 team travelled to Courtown hibs for a lunch time game in the Division 1/2 league and made the journey worth while coming away 1-0 winners with Aoibheann getting the goal... well done all.
Then back to Curracloe for afternoon game for the first under-16 team where unfortunately the home side proved too strong for our premier team winning 3-0, well done all involved. Our ladies welcomed Wexford Bohs to big barn for last home league game of the season, even tough we started of quite well unfortunately things didn’t go too well in second half and visitors took all three points winning on 4-0 score line. well done all 15 involved this morning..
Our heroes today were our under-11 team that travelled to CBS for under-11 fustal cup and made it to the final where unfortunately they lost to St Joseph’s. well done to all eight girls involved Abbie, Nia, Ruby, Jolie, Jaden, Kate, Arya and Ella some great football played throughout the day, big thanks to Chris and Beck and all parents.
Both men’s teams recorded impressive wins today. After going 1-0 down goals from Shane Cassidy and Darren Naughton ensured a 2-1 win over Wexford Bohs third team and meant the lads were marching into round three of the cup.
The B team traveled to Enniscorthy knowing that a win was vital to keep their league title hopes alive. Mark Sinnott got the lads off to the perfect start netting early (his confidence is at record highs after that stupendous penalty last week and getting the nod to start) Ajax equalized before half time to leave the game finely balanced but a superb solo run from Justin Morgan early in the second half was finished with aplomb with his right foot much to the surprise of most at the game as Justin had ended up on his backside the three previous times he tried to kick with his right foot the lads were now firmly in control and nicely taken goals from Alex and the hardworking Jack Doyle ensured the three points on a 4-1 scoreline. Alex was unlucky to hit the post with a superb lob from the halfway line in the dying seconds. Special shout out to Justin playing his first game with us today and a welcome back to Brian Delaney from injury. Well done to all the lads on both teams that played/traveled today and bring on the next game.
