COOKERY DEMO/CLASSES

Back by popular demand. Chef Daithi takes to the kitchen again for a three-week cookery/ demo at the community centre. The course will run for three weeks from Thur 20. Cost €20 for all three sessions to include all ingredient­s and handouts. Please contact Rosslare Community Centre on 9132202 to register your interest – places strictly limited.

SEWING CLASS

Last year’s course was a huge hit and a second course commences on February 3 for seven weeks.

If you own a sewing machine and don’t know how to use it, this might be the course for you. Learn how to operate and maintain your machine with confidence. This course will cover upcycling techniques, pattern reading and projects suitable for beginners Attendees must bring own machines to class. Course costs €120 – €20 booking deposit required. BEFRIENDIN­G GROUP

We are currently seeking volunteers to act as befriender­s. A training session will take place on Thursday, January 30, at Rosslare Community Centre (9.30 p.m. to 1 p.m.) and a limited number of places remain – please contact Anne at 085 8526866 for more info. Volunteers have found it to be a hugely enriching experience, as beneficial to their own wellbeing as that of the people visited. If you think you might have an hour or so to contribute every week, please consider becoming a Befriender.

ROSSLARE YOUTH CLUB

Following our Christmas break, we’re back to our usual schedule and will meet every Friday at Rosslare Community from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. New members always welcome – see our Facebook page.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

We had a good turnout at last week’s coffee morning. Deposits were paid for our holiday in Westport on April 19 and our annual lunch in Kelly’s Hotel on February 20. Places still available for Westport when we head off for five nights B&B with four evening meals, daily guided tours out, nightly entertainm­ent and coach to and from Rosslare, staying at the Castlecour­t Hotel in central Westport.

Chair Yoga classes take place on Tuesdays 10.45 a.m. and will continue for six weeks; this is a very popular activity and hopefully it will be enjoyed by all.

Our next meeting is on February 11 and the weekly coffee mornings continue each Tuesday at 10.30 a.m.

BIBLE STUDIES EVENING

A Bible studies evening will be held each Wednesday in the

Fort Room, Rosslare Community Centre (7 p.m. to 8 p.m.). The evening will involve discussion in an informal and friendly setting. All are welcome; for more informatio­n contact Avril or Jenita at 086 6627681.

COIS BARRY COMMUNITY HOUSE

Cois Barry Community House has teamed up with Kelly’s Resort Hotel to introduce a free course in the Hospitalit­y Industry. The course will include Barista training, Table waiting and Bar – Tending.
