HOW OUR LEADERS ARE DOING

-

NOEL KELLY

Howdy folks!! The weeks are flying by and I can’t believe we are 7 weeks away from race day. The past couple of weeks have been quite busy, have found it hard to fit in training at times, but persevering all the same. I’m doing my best to stick to the classes or group sessions that Kevin has in our schedules but mixing up my rest days with running days in between as life allows to make sure I’m fitting in what is expected. We have been attending the New Years Resolution 5k training sessions at Enniscorthy Sports Hub running track the past few weeks where Kevin has put not only the leaders through their paces, but the whole running group too. -Also still attending the bootcamp classes at Nolan Health and Fitness where the trainers are constantly changing the circuits they put us through to make the classes not feel repetitive and enjoyable. We had a Pilates class thrown into mix the last couple of weeks with Jane at Wexford Pilates Studio, Jane guided us through some stretches as you will have seen in last weeks paper, I really found these helpful with relieving aches in my hip joints which can occur after a long run or heavy gym session. That’s all from me for now, oh and if ye haven’t done so already, don’t forget to sign up for April 5!!

CARAGH DALY

Another 3 weeks have passed. It flies by. I find I have good weeks where I manage to get all the training in and then the next week with one thing or another I don’t get out much at all. It has all be going well. I was delighted with myself knocking 2 minutes of my 5k time in a week after running the Wexford credit union night run last week. And then went to Nolan health and fitness for a session on Saturday where Sean managed to take me down a peg. I found the training, -running through storm Ciara on the main Enniscorthy/Dublin road (not once but twice) very difficult and that’s where things get challenging and you want to give it all up. But I didn’t and I’m hoping I’ll start to enjoy it again at some stage!! It definitely helps to be a part of Noel’s wolf pack, or finding a friend to run with. Im very lucky I have someone who I can do that once a week when we are both free. (Thanks Natasha x)

PEPI COADY

Over the last couple of weeks I have increased training sessions and trying to match in with the schedule Kevin sends us. It’s very difficult to be free at the times that the group are meeting, but I have tried hard to get out and do the sessions by myself. Thanks to Paul O’Reilly for supporting me along the way. Together we have completed 10km and are on track to increase this each week up to the 10 miles by the start date. If only the rain would stay away. Thanks to all for the support and I’m sorry I can’t meet more with the group, but I will make it to the start line this time. Slow and steady, but I’ll get there all the same.
