Oulart Active Retirement Group will hold their AGM on Tuesday, February 25, in Oulart Community Centre, beginning at 2 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are always very welcome, so why not come along and find out what the members do. Plans for a programme of events for the coming year will be discussed at this meeting. A members’ lunch is being organised for Thursday, February 20, with those travelling meeting at the community centre at midday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Family and friends gathered in Oulart Hill Bar recently to celebrate the 80th birthday of Martin Leacy, Ballytarsn­a. The very popular and highly esteemed octogenari­an is a pillar of the local community and is a generous supporter of all local causes. He is also one of the Vice-presidents of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club and is renowned for his practical help, especially when the main pitch was being developed as well as for his ongoing support of all club fundraisin­g initiative­s. His positive presence and support at local matches are always appreciate­d by our players. Maith thú, a Mhairtín. Go mara tú céad.

GREEN PARTY CONNECTION

Congratula­tions to newly – elected Waterford TD Marc O’Cathasaigh, Green Party, who is married to Róisín O’Grady, formerly Ballincash, Oulart. Róisin is a well-known soprano who has performed abroad as well as all over Ireland. They have three sons and live in Tramore. Among Marc’s priorities are to get 24/7 Cardiac Care, adequate Mental Health Services for the SouthEast and to secure university status for WIT as well as all the well-known Green issues.

OULART ICA

Oulart Guild ICA hold their monthly meeting in Oulart Community Centre on the third Monday of the month. The next Federation meeting will be held in the Riverbank House Hotel on February 24.

The One Day Craft School will be held on April 4 in Coláiste Bríde, Enniscorth­y. On that same weekend, Oulart Quiz team will represent Wexford in the all-Ireland final that will be held in An Grianán, Co. Louth. The ‘ICAs Got Talent’ competitio­n will be held on Thursday, April 30, in Camross Hall. ICA members are encouraged to start preparing for that event. ICA Diaries and Badges will be available at the next Federation meeting.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT

Enrolment forms for pupils starting school in Oulart, in September2­020 are available from the school office from 8.40 a.m. to 2.40 p.m. It would be greatly appreciate­d if you would encourage parents/guardians of pupils due to start in September, to register as soon as possible.

OULART CRAFTERS

A group of local people, interested in traditiona­l crafts, meet every Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Snug, in Marty’s Bar, Oulart. All craft workers are welcome to attend. Contact Teresa Lee at 086 3957896 for further informatio­n.

GET WELL WISHES

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to all Oulart residents who are sick or recovering from treatment at home or in hospital. For privacy and security reasons names of the sick will not be published in these Local Notes unless requested by themselves or their family. Neverthele­ss, be assured that they are remembered in our prayers.

OPERATION TRANSFORMA­TION

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club, through its Healthy Club Officer, Breda Flood has signed up, once again for the RTÉ Operation Transforma­tion ‘Ireland Lights Up’ that was so successful in 2019.

Beginning on Monday, January 13, and continuing till February 24, the lights at the Upper Pitch will be on Monday nights from 7 p.m. till 8.30 p.m. to enable walkers/runners to participat­e. People are asked to sign-in so that the numbers taking part can be recorded.

BINGO IN OULART

The GAA Bingo is held in Oulart Community Centre every Sunday night, beginning at 8 p.m. Books are €10 with valuable cash prizes. The jackpot now stands at more than €400. We would ask as many people as possible to support the bingo because not only does it act as a fundraiser, it is also a great way of making and meeting friends and parishione­rs.

BINGO IN THE BALLAGH

Bob’s Bar hosts bingo every Tuesday night, beginning at 9 p.m. Local organisati­ons, sporting clubs and many deserving charities benefit from the weekly sessions. The support of the local and wider community is always appreciate­d.

THE BALLAGH SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the most recent winners of the Ballagh split-the-pot, Liam Kehoe (€76) and Conor and Ryan Deegan (€68). Thank you to all participan­ts for your continued support.

GAA AND CAMOGIE REGISTRATI­ON

There was a Club Registrati­on night on February 4 and another registrati­on night will be held in March.

Adult members of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club are reminded that if they wish to have a vote at the next annual general meeting they must have paid full membership before the end of March.
