High hopes for the future at AGM of Castlebridge Community Co-op
The future of Castlebridge was up for discussion at the village’s community centre recently as the AGM of the Castlebridge Community Co-op took place.
A community that is constantly growing and evolving, Castlebridge is home to several active community groups and it’s the aim of the committee in the coming months to bring them all together to speak with one voice to advocate for improvements for the local area.
Last year the village saw a major boost with Wexford County Council giving a commitment to undertake a feasibility study on the historic Castlebridge House and conservatory. Famously Castlebridge is the historic birthplace of the world famous Guinness Book of Records and this is something which brings with it massive potential amid interest from Diageo and the Pattison Group in Canada, who own the rights to the book.
This historic connection led to the establishment of the new Castlebridge Record Makers Festival last year and one of the main organisers of this Paul O’Brien, has taken up the role of co-chairperson of the co-op along with Sarah Kelly.
‘Basically we’re hoping to remind people that the co-op can play a big role in becoming a collective voice for the village,’ said Paul. ‘It’s about coming together to make a coherent argument that Castlebridge is a place worth investing in.’
Paul is encouraging people to keep an eye out in the coming weeks for their opportunity to get involved for the betterment of the community.
