SONG WRITING
We wish local singer/songwriter Martina Keane the very best of good luck with her most recent release ‘Blue Jeans’. Martina is hoping to raise funds for charities that help women in crisis. The video is shared on youtube and other social media outlets where you can find how to donate to your preferred charity.
ST FINTAN’S
The St Fintan’s intermediate football team got its All County football league campaign under way on Saturday last with an away game to Duffry Rovers. Jim Rossitter lined out with the Wexford senior football team when it took on Sligo in an Allianz league Division 4 round five game in Chadwicks Wexford park but unfortunately for Jim he was forced to leave the pitch early on with an injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.
In schools football St Fintan’s player Kyle Rankin was a member of a Good Council team that suffered defeat to St Patrick’s in a Top Oil Leinster junior A championship title.
The club extends our heartfelt sympathies to Club PRO and stalwart Paddy McGuire on the sad passing of his brother Kevin (Dublin). Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family, Paddy and all extended family members and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
DARTS
All round sportsman and business man Ballycogleys own Billy O’Brien received yet another unique honour when he was inducted into the Irish National Darts Organisation hall of fame during the recent past.
Billy holds many records for representing his county and country in darts but one that deserves special mention is the fact that he was a member of the only Wexford darts team to win an all-Ireland in 1988. On the GAA fields he could hold his own with the best of them with his club St Fintan’s and won a masters all-Ireland hurling championship with Wexford in 1991. Congratulations, Billy.

ALL BLACKS AFC
The ladies travelled to Ballywilliam to take on the home side Shelburne in their last league game of the season, unfortunately things didn’t go to well and a game maybe that didn’t reflect the score line with the home side winning 5-0. Well done to all 14 who travelled, the ladies should be very proud of their league season out of 10 games winning four, drawing one and losing five. After coming back and working hard on getting a team back together with many new faces, some great positives should be taken from the season and the future looks good for our ladies side, the ladies now await the outcome of games to see who they play in the division three cup semi-final.
Mixed results for both men’s teams. The B squad travelled to Shelburne and came out the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline. Goals from Darren and Alex weren’t unfortunately enough on the day. A string of excellent missed chances left the lads feeling hard done by on the day.
The A team progressed to the next round of the cup with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Rathnure. Goals from Dot Moore, David Moore and Mark Doyle sealing the win.
