ST PATRICK’S PARADE

The 11th annual St Patrick’s Day parade takes place in Carrig-on-Bannow on March 17 at 2 p.m. The occasion is always family friendly and this year there is a new route which takes in even more of the village. If you would like to enter a float, please contact Marie at 087 9709901 or Greg at 086 8174231. There will also be prizes for the best decorated house in the village.

SOCIAL DANCING

Social dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday, March 12, by Jack Byrne, Thursday, March 19, by South Bound, March 26 by Adrian Ryan. All welcome – refreshmen­ts served. Proceeds in aid of Ballymitty Handball new build.

CORACH RAMBLERS NEWS

The weather played havoc yet again with all underage matches cancelled last Saturday. The three adult games went ahead on Sunday with the women’s team recording a great 3-0 win against title rivals Adamstown to return to second position in the league with games in hand. Grace Donovan scored two and assisted Niamh Millar for the third to set up a thrilling end to the league campaign. The Men’s A side played out a 0-0 draw v Tombrack and the B side went down 2-0 against Cloughbawn at home.

Last Sundays split-the-pot winner was Christina Murphy, who picked up €513 for herself. The club is extremely grateful of the continued support of all with our weekly draw.

GAA CLUB NEWS

Hard luck to the adult ladies’ footballer­s on losing out to Ballyhogue this afternoon. The score line was 2-7 to 2-14 but a great performanc­e was seen by all and the fresh legs on the sideline made a difference. Well done to all the girls and to Shane and also to Gemma (thanks for the oranges at half time) and to all who came out to support the girls. That’s the first league match under way for the season so onwards and upwards from here.

No winner of club lotto so jackpot stays at €14,000. Winning numbers were 2, 10, 23 and 32. One match-three winner received

€200 – Sharon and Ellie Murphy of Growtown.

Next New Ross District Awards Night is on Saturday, March 14, in the Horse and Hound. David Currid is a deserving recipient this year and if you’d like to come along and celebrate on the night please contact Jason Sinnott at 086 8107111 by March 11. Function includes a meal and presentati­on of awards and a great night of celebratio­ns is guaranteed. Tickets are €28 per person.

MEMBERSHIP – Another night for membership will be on between 7-8: 30 in the complex on the Thursday, March 12, membership needs to be paid ASAP as matches are and will be starting soon so everyone needs to be registered before matches are played. It is important that everyone who has not paid membership or registered to please come along on one of the nights and sign up for the coming year.

Under-17 boys had a great win over Taghmon on Sunday last in their Football championsh­ip. This Sunday they play Ballyhogue in Grantstown at 11 a.m. in Hurling. The junior ladies have a home game against Clonee also on Sunday.

The Junior Hurlers travel to the Rapps for their league game with a throw in at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Please check Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram for correct match times and venues.

Well done to the two chess teams who took part in the Chess County Final Community Games in Piercestow­n on 27th. A Thank you to their teacher Mr Wickham. They played well on the night.
