ROSSLARE 10K ROAD RACE 2020.

Wexford Triathlon Club’s annual road race takes place on Monday, April 13 – in addition to the traditiona­l 10k, a 5k race is being introduced this year. For more informatio­n, and to register online visit wextriclub.com.

BEFRIENDER­S OPEN DAY

Rosslare Befriender­s offer free and friendly companions­hip to older people in the commu- nity – contact can be either by telephone or weekly visits. The service complement­s but does not replace services such as home help or home care. If you think you might benefit from this service, or would just like to find out more, why not drop in to our open day at Rosslare Community Centre on Thursday, March 26, between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. With music and refreshmen­ts provided, you can have an informal chat with one of our members. All are very welcome to attend – bring a friend along, the more the merrier.

BRAIN YOGA TASTER SESSION

Brain Yoga Practition­er Annette Fischer will hold a taster session in the Fort Room, Rosslare Community Centre on Thursday, March 26, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Brain yoga involves a series of easy to learn exercises which can help to reduce stress, promote relaxation, improve academic performanc­e and enhance creativity. The practice combines breathing and gentle movements to increase oxygen flow to the brain.

If you think you might benefit, why not come along and find out what it’s all about. Suitable for all, aged eight to 80… and beyond. Admission is free (voluntary donations welcome). Keep an eye on our Facebook (Rosslare Strand) page for details.

ST MARY’S GAA

The lotto numbers were 1, 7, 20 and 21 on March 3. The jackpot of €11,050 was not won. Three match-three winner Dee Ryan/Izzy Finney/Jimmy and Orla Byrne. Next draw is Tuesday, March 10, in the clubhouse at 8 p.m. and is €11,200. Tickets are €2 and can be bought off all Managers, players, committee and places around the parish.

St Mary’s Caomogie Training times are as follows: under-eights – Return date to be confirmed. Under-10s – Tuesdays at 6.45 p.m. under-12s – Fridays at 6 p.m. under-14s – Return date to be confirmed registrati­on for 2020 is €50 up to under-18s, and €60 for adults. We’re looking forward to another great season. New members always welcome.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Weekly coffee mornings continue each Tuesday at 10.30 a.m. in Coast Hotel. We had 40 members at our annual lunch in Kelly’s Hotel where we all enjoyed a beautiful four course meal. The chair yoga continues each Tuesday at 9.45 a.m. for the next two weeks.

The next meeting will be on March 10 when a vote will be held to decide on a change of venue for our weekly meetings, so we urge all members to attend and cast their vote on their preferred venue.

A solicitor will be in attendance on March 31 to give a talk on wills and power of attorney etc. which should be interestin­g.

In April we go to the National Opera House to see Titanic. Places still available for our trip to Westport on April 19 for five nights. DB&B cost €395 pps. For further informatio­n talk to any committee member or come along to our weekly coffee mornings.

BIBLE STUDIES EVENING

A Bible studies evening will be held each Wednesday in the Fort Room, Rosslare Community Centre (7 p.m. to 8 p.m.). The evening will involve discussion in an informal and friendly setting. All are welcome; for more informatio­n contact Avril or Jenita at 086 6627681.
