An emotional round of applause for Rosslare pharmacist Dylan

- By MARIA PEPPER

THE popular pharmacist Dylan Walsh got so emotional when he heard his neighbours clapping for him and for frontline heroes of the Coronavirus pandemic that he just sat on the floor by his front door in Rosslare Strand like a ‘blubbering mess’.

His neighbours in Cluain Aoibhinn came to their doors at the same time that TDs stood in the Dail on Thursday night last to clap for doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers, and they clapped and shouted in praise of Dylan’s work as a pharmacist.

Dylan is well-known as a star of stage shows and musicals, as a chaperone of Roses of Tralee finalists, as the travel blogger ‘Notions on Tour’ and as a pharmacist in the Rosslare Strand, Rosslare Harbour and Wexford town areas. He is a graduate of Trinity College and has been a pharmacist in the south-east Wexford area for a number of years. He and fellow pharmacists in Rosslare Pharmacy have been flat out dispensing doctor’s prescriptions, and advising countless people seeking defences against the contagious corona virus.

‘To those who clapped, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know I have it easy compared to others, but it means so much to know that we are all in this together’, Dylan reacted later on social media.‘When I heard my neighbours clapping, I got too emotional to go out and join them so I sat on the floor by the front door, clapping along as a blubbering mess. All these gestures makes having to isolate myself from everyone I hold dear for their safety, a little easier’.
