Digital Picnic event goes virtual

-

AFTER the success of last year’s inaugural Digital Picnic event, a social media and digital technology conference that took place at Wells House and Gardens, 2020 is looking bigger and better for the event.

Gorey’s Sarah-Jane Vincent, organiser of the event, said that there had been fears that the event this year, which was due to take place in Wicklow’s Kilruddery Gardens, would not go ahead because of the outbreak of coronavirus.

But in an innovative move, it has been decided the conference will be held in a virtual capacity, over two days online instead of the one day that was being planned for.

‘Given the uncertainty facing many public events around the world due to the progression of Covid-19, in the interest of attendees’ safety we will instead hold a two-day virtual conference on May 11 and 12. This positive new development is allowing attendees to participate from wherever they are in the world. It also shows the power of digital transformation and

I am very excited to be one of the first conferences in Ireland to take this step forward,’ said Sarah-Jane Vincent.

Last year’s Digital Picnic conference was recently named ‘highly commended’ for Digital Campaign of the Year at the inaugural Digital Women Awards, which took place in the UK and marked International Women’s Day.

The Digital Picnic event brought together leading industry experts for a day of learning on topics including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and SEO, with nearly 200 delegates in Wexford.

During this time last year the campaign itself received local, national and international press coverage and trended on Twitter over four consecutive days with a 473k global reach, 2,046 tweets and 1,411 retweets. It attracted 13% of an international audience and was featured by New Frontiers as the must-attend event of 2019.

Local interest came from LEO Wexford, Invest Wexford, the Hatch Lab, the Amber

Springs Hotel and others.

Sarah-Jane said she was honoured by the support.

‘Digital Picnic was an entirely new conference concept that aimed to educate and empower marketers and business owners to remain relevant in the ever-changing world of social and digital. I’m thrilled to be able to represent the digital marketing industry as a female entrepreneur and show others the possibilities of digital transformation, as well as bringing together such a successful event in Wexford.’
