BACK IN THE RIBBONS: Wexford showjumper­s were back in the ribbons, featuring strongly at events in the Boswell and Galway Equestrian Centres.

Bertram Allen secured the first qualifying place to the Dublin Horse Show at Boswell, while Gorey’s Páraic Kenny was a fraction behind the winner and also advanced.

Shane Kenny then followed his brother’s lead, with his seventh place finish enough to qualify.

Grace Allen enjoyed a victory in Galway, with Páraic Kenny once again filling second spot.

CELTIC CROWNED: Gorey Celtic were crowned Wexford Football League Division 5 champions after overcoming Fastnet Rovers 3-1 in a play-off at the Ajax Athletic grounds in Enniscorth­y.

The north county side were successful thanks to a Colin McShane double along with a Darren O’Mahoney goal.

It was the first year for the club to enter a third team in the league, so winning the title was a fantastic achievemen­t for manager Derek Keegan and his squad.

COLEMAN CRACKER: Extra-time was needed before Coolgreany Celtic defeated St. Cormac’s 2-1 in a cracker to clinch the Michelle Coleman Cup final honours.

Anne Higgins drew first blood for the eventual winners, but they were reeled in by Tracey Nolan’s second-half response before Karen Morris broke the deadlock.

Curracloe United were in flying form against Waterford’s Benfica in the Ger Dunne Cup (Under-16) final, with Aleisha Cullen scoring four times in a 7-0 success to add to goals from Republic of Ireland internatio­nal Rianna Jarrett, Fiona Bennett and Julie Coakley.

A Ciara McKelvie hat-trick, along with an own goal, powered a Bree United team captained by Annie Stafford to a 4-0 Under-12 Cup final win over Glen Celtic.

COCO IN A FLASH: The Bernard Mackey Kennel Supplies sprint final at Enniscorth­y dog track saw a cracking performanc­e by the Nick Turner-trained Coco Flash who raced to an excellent four and a half lengths victory over Ah Boolavogue in an impressive time of 18.86.

DORAN’S BRIDGE GAP: Two old rivals met in the final of the Sonny Cullen horseshoes tournament in Bunclody, with Doran’s Bridge beating the Woodsmen in two straight games.

Doran’s Bridge: Michael Redmond, Chris McDonald, Noel Redmond, William Redmond, Harry Kinch, Richard Collier, Billy McGuire, Denis Fitzgerald.

Woodsmen: John Joe Byrne, John Giltrap, Tom O’Connor, Phil Mahon, Brendan Earle, Paddy O’Connor, Liam Bond, Seán Redmond.

RATHNURE RULE: Rathnure proved too strong for St. Martin’s in the Under-18 Premier camogie championsh­ip final played in Killurin, with Katie Flynn captaining her team to a 4-13 to 1-10 victory.

Eimear O’Connor led the scoring stakes with 2-6, while Shauna O’Connor and Róisín Higgins also contribute­d goals.

PROVINCIAL WIN: Eight provincial medals returned after Leinster captured a first Gael Linn camogie title since 2006 with a squad featuring Kate Kelly, Catherine O’Loughlin, Mary Leacy, Una Leacy, Deirdre Codd, Frances Doran, Shelley and Stacey Kehoe.
