GRANTSTOWN NEWS

Grantstown residents are now enjoying the slight relaxation of cocooning by having the freedom of walking within our grounds safely or up to five k while being aware of social distancing. To continue to keep them safe and following HSE guidelines we would only ask authorised personnel to enter the avenue for the immediate future and for the appropriate PPE equipment to be worn. However, if you need urgent access, please do not hesitate to ring Lesley at 051561016 or 087 2134073.

A big thank you to all our volunteers, who are continuing to do Trojan work in supporting all our residents and the vulnerable in the community. It’s great to see the young community members from the GAA helping deliver our Meals on Wheels to the most vulnerable.

We continue to offer 5-star three course meals to all in the community and thank our local potato supplier, Bernie Whelan for continuing to donate potatoes, Wallace’s for donating fruit and the dept store for their kindness in donating the beautiful quality material and the elastic to enable us to start making masks. Marian our resident and Ellie our volunteer can’t wait to get started on them.

Our residents are continuing our keep fit classes and they are participating enthusiastically.

In our twice a week zoom meetings. We have covered, quizes, baking, bingo and a wonderful music session with John. An absolutely fantastic musician and we thank him for putting on such a wonderful afternoon of music.

All in the community are welcome to join the Zoom meeting and we wish to thank Ballymitty Hall for lending us a laptop and a few tablets so, if you wish to join us, please contact Lesley, she is there to take your calls, arrange delivery of a tablet if necessary, and offer help to get you set up.

Our excellent volunteers are continuing to collect groceries, pensions and prescriptions.

This is a challenging time for everyone and we are here to help. Please pick up the phone and give us a call at 051 561016.

We are missing you all and look forward to welcoming you back, when safe to do so. In the meantime Please stay safe, from all at Grantstown.

OUR PARISH JOURNAL

This year’s Journal is still in the process of gathering articles and photos so you still have time to get them in. We may publish a bit later in the year. If you have any wedding photos over the last year we would love to include it. If you had a baby in the last year and would like to give us the date of birth to be included in the journal.

With so many people at home it’s a good time to write something for the journal so if you have an article you would like included or an old photograph let us know. If you have anything you would like included please contact Anne Farrell at 086 8469131 or Nicola at 087 6859868.

PARISH CLEAN UP

Now we are allowed go 5k and while out on ur walk take a bag with you and collect some of the rubbish it would be nice to have a rubbish free parish. Make sure to wear gloves when rubbish picking.
