ROSSLARE

We were delighted to see Rosslare Golf Club re-opening again on May 18.

It opened to those living within the five km radius, which were mainly the lucky people living in the village.

They had the great advantage of enjoying the course that had been well maintained by our green staff during the lockdown period.

We are now looking forward to the next phase which started yesterday (Monday), allowing members in the county to play again while conforming to the G.U.I./I.L.G.U. guidelines.

Fourballs are allowed at 14-minute intervals, though we plan to stay with the single format for the first week. All previous protocols re-social distancing etc. continue to be applicable.

We have introduced the competitions purse in the club. This is again being advised by the G.U.I. and I.L.G.U. It will help to reduce queuing in the Pro Shop and handling cash.

Opening the purse is an easy process, and full instructions and frequently asked questions have been issued to all members.

If any members need help with the process, please ask our professional Jamie, or any committee member who will be delighted to assist.

We are also introducing the digital card. This will be available on your smartphone via our Clubnet app and is up and running, ready for the commencement of competitions at the end of June.

We also look forward to re-opening the Burrow course in the near future.

We will be running our Junior programme again this summer and will have details on this shortly.

We are delighted to say that we have membership available in all categories, so please call Clare on 05391-32203 for all the options.

DONOHOE’S SOCIETY

Donohoe’s Golf Society will be starting back playing on June 14 in Rathaspeck Manor at 9 a.m.

As previously practised, our Covid-19 safety measures will be back in place every Sunday going forward, such as the clubhouse being out of bounds, and don’t touch the flagstick etc.

Please bring the correct money to play. We are hoping for big numbers on the morning and are looking forward to playing, so see you then.

WEXFORD

Well done to Mary Fallon and Seamus Walsh who had impressive holes-inone on the sixth and 13th respectively!

Unfortunately, the much-anticipated return to competitive golf yesterday (Monday) will not now take place until June 29, which is phase three of the return to golf protocols.

In order to try to generate some much-needed income, we will be running a €5 daily raffle for a €70 voucher.

Any support for this raffle would be greatly appreciated.
