‘Patience from all sides is key as we get back to work’

-

HAVING restrictions in place in how we work is now a new normal, and Garry Bradley of Ignite Training is advising that all employees need to learn to adapt to these protocols.

‘With so many updates being released from various sectors, it can be confusing to comprehend what is the correct course of action to prepare yourself or your company to get back working in a safe and productive way.

‘While delivering training in Covid-19 compliance, and working with companies to develop new protocols, I get asked many similar questions from people who are preparing to get back to work but are unsure of restrictions that affect them and their industry,’ he said.

Employers must provide induction training for all workers, and at a minimum this must include the latest advice and guidance on public health, according to Mr Bradley.

As an employee, people must complete and return the pre-return to work form and inform their employer if there are any other circumstances relating to Covid-19.

He said that getting back to work can be stressful for employers and employees alike.

‘I encourage everyone to try to be patient and understand that this is uncharted grounds for everyone.

‘While we aim to advise best practices in each industry, people will have different views on dealing with certain works restraints. We all must try to be reasonably practicable in our approach to getting back to work.’

And even though employers will have made changes to the workplace, Mr Bradley said this will likely evolve as the restrictions ease and best practices in industry become known.

‘If you see ways of improving your workplace, let your manager know. Feedback from employees is a valuable asset to companies as they make their own roadmap to get back in action as efficiently as possible,’ he said.
