SAD PASSING

Deepest sympathy to the family of Lil Walsh née Colfer of Grange, Bannow, who sadly passed away last Friday, January 1, Lil was in her eightieth year and is survived by her husband Matt, sons Peter and Phil sisters Maura, Josie, Nellie, and Ann brothers Billy, Mark, Paddy, Brendan and Seán. Her sisters Cathy, Maggie, Biddy and Alice predecease­d her. She will be sadly missed by all her family including Breda, Martin, her grandchild­ren Amanda, Shirley and Richie and great grandson Levi and her many friends.

Lil’s funeral took place on Sunday, January 3, at 1 p.m. in Carrig church with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Due to covid only a small group of relatives attended the funeral. May she rest in peace.

GRANTSTOWN COMMUNITY NOTES

The staff, volunteers and board at Grantstown wish all our residents and Clients a very happy New Year and may 2021 be the year that all your wishes are granted.

Christmas of 2020 was somewhat an unusual one for most, however we hope that everyone in the community had a lovely time and celebrated the season in safety, we also hope that next Christmas we will be back to normal.

Grantstown internal raffle was a great success and the lucky winners enjoyed their hampers. Our winners were, the grandchild­ren of staff member Ellie McCarthy who won a selection of selection boxes, Bernie Sinnott our volunteer whose grandchild­ren were the winners of a packed hamper, one of our residents Kathy Hillis also won a hamper, staff member Mary Staunton and staff member Julie Barden accepted a hamper for her grandchild Kelly Anne Nolan. Congratula­tions to all our winners.

We are still working with restricted staff to limit contact on site due to the covid pandemic and miss seeing our clients on a daily basis, however we are keeping in contact by phone to ensure that everyone is keeping well staying safe and hope to see them all again soon.

Our meal on wheels service has now resumed after the holiday break. Meals are delivered on Tuesday and Thursday of every week. To order our nutritious meals you can contact us at 051 561016 or email us on info@ grantstown­priory.com and we will be able to arrange delivery to your home on delivery days.

Our next to new shop remains closed for the moment, once the restrictio­n ease we will be accepting donation of clothes, toys and ornaments etc.

A big thank you to our staff that did shopping while adhering to safety guidelines for our residents over the holiday period your efforts and help was greatly appreciate­d by all.

We are now entering into a period of further restrictio­ns and we encourage all the community to adhere to the guideline and keep yourself and other safe. bers. Thank you for the continuous support which is very much appreciate­d.
