Improve your circulation naturally
DO you have bad circulation? Cold hands and cold feet could be a sign that your circulation is sluggish. Varicose veins, Chilblains, Raynaud’s disease are all associated with poor circulation. Circulation is made up of the heart and blood vessels which together are known as the cardiovascular system. It may be improved through diet and lifestyle changes.
Chilblains are itchy, purple areas of inflammation that appear on fingers, toes, and even the ears, a day or two after prolonged exposure to cold, damp conditions. Low temperatures cause blood vessels to go into spasm, reducing blood flow and triggering inflammation, possibly through lack of oxygen and nutrients.
Raynaud’s syndrome is also associated with cold causing small arteries in the fingers and toes to go into spasm. In this case, blood flow is so reduced that fingers or toes initially go white, with numbness and tingling. As sluggish blood flow returns, the digits go blue, then bright red with painful burning sensations.
Varicose veins form when non-return valves in the long veins of the legs give way, under the effects of gravity. This causes blood to pool in superficial veins which become torturous, bulging and dilated. Symptoms of varicose veins include aching and dragging sensations, swelling of the ankles and itching. Varicose eczema can also occur when poor venous blood flow causes skin on the lower leg to become dry, scaly, flaky, itchy, and discoloured.
Try adding Cayenne pepper to your diet. Garlic, ginger or ginger tea, and hawthorn tea can also help. Pumpkin seeds are a source of vitamin E which helps to keep blood flowing freely. Buckwheat is a source or rutin which may help to strengthen and increase flexibility of the blood vessels. Ex ercising, dry skin brushing, stopping smoking, and stimulating massage can help too.
