Getting Married? Then be sure to stay healthy ahead of the big day

-

GETTING married can create as much tension and stress as it does excitement as the big day draws nearer which is why you need to give yourself lots of extra TLC in order to help you cope with those pre-nuptial demands.

It goes without saying the all-important wedding dress, makeup and hairstyle commands most of your attention in the months, weeks and days leading up to the wedding, but there is every reason for you to ensure that feeling in tiptop shape - mentally and physically – is given equal priority.

Feeling your best means the unwanted side-effects of stress-related illnesses like colds, flu, migraine, mood swings, tiredness and dehydration won’t hinder preparations. Here’s a few things to consider.

Take Regular Exercise: Nothing reduces stress quite like regular exercise. Whether it’s a stroll in the park, a jog or a cycle, it will help you cope with all the demands that come with arranging a wedding. Being active also produces important endorphins that help activate better cognitive functioning which leaves you better equipped to think clearer about what needs to be done.

A key to keeping yourself ticking over is to create a personal fitness goal that runs parallel with your wedding plans. This way, both you and your wedding day will arrive together devoid of stress.

Avoid Crash Dieting: Going on a diet is by now - or at least it should be - one of the most outdated methods of weight loss there is. No longer is it considered a successful course of action to just ‘diet’ to lose weight and by crash dieting in the weeks before the wedding, you only detract from what should be the greatest and most exciting build-up of your life.

If you are conscious of losing a few extra pounds, then do so by incorporating an attainable and achievable healthy eating plan into your lifestyle. Throw in some regular exercise and hey presto… you feel better, minus a few pounds. The important thing is to be realistic and enjoy weight loss (it’s possible).

Surround Yourself With Positivity: Remaining positive is one of the greatest mechanisms we have as humans when it comes to controlling how we feel, and if there’s one time in your life that requires lots of it, it’s your wedding day.

Nerves, anxiety, perfection, appearance, are just some of the stress gremlins that impose themselves on your thoughts which is why you need to surround yourself with all that’s positive in the countdown to the wedding. How? It can be anything from listening to your favourite music, reading a much loved book, a short little break away from it all, or just simply by being around those who make you feel good. So remember: avoid negativity with lots of positivity.

Avoid Too Much Alcohol: There are many commendable reasons why you should reduce intake of alcohol but when it comes to preparing for a wedding, here’s why: consuming too much alcohol will leave you feeling sluggish and tired which will only hinder your preparations.

Rest is very important prior to a wedding and by drinking to excess will leave your body out of harmony with important rest time. Dehydration is another factor you need to consider as this can leave you looking, as well as feeling, drained and no amount of makeup can cover.
