SOUTH EAST ROAD CLUB

-

The wheels keep on rolling and the results keep on coming. Another fantastic week for the south east road club.

First up was the news that Liam Curley has been chosen as part of the Cycling Ireland talent squad of 2016 this comes after some fantastic results of late. All at SERC are thrilled for Liam and wish him all the best when he heads to Belgium.

Last Sunday some members headed to Navan for the Meath GP. In the Under-14 race, Eoghan Cooke and Conor Shortt rode a brilliant race just finishing outside the placings.

In the senior race were Luke Kearney and Ronan Shortt who rode a hard race getting into the thick of the action eventually finishing just outside the prizes.

Three riders, Wayne Byrne, Derrick Evans and Tony Barnes, headed to Ticknock, south Dublin, for the latest round of the mountain bike XC races.

A fantastic result for Wayne taking home first place in the S4 event. Wayne should his great climbing ability to ride away from the group and finish with a half lap to spare! This was Wayne’s second ever mountain bike race well done dude.

Tony took part in the S3 event having been promoted from S4 after his recent win north of the border. Tony rode a great race finishing in the top 20. Derrick took part in the S2 event and showed great strength and power to come home in second place against the top riders in the country. Well done to all.

On Bank Holiday Monday a large crowd from both our racing and touring section headed for the Glenmalure hotel for our coffee spin sponsored by the club. Great to see so many out enjoying the fine weather and a nice leisurely spin. Thanks to the staff at the Glenmalure hotel for the lovely scones, tea and coffee.

Club spins continue every Sunday mornings leaving Fern Hill plaza at 9.30.
