Five call outs in 12 days for mountain rescue groups
Wicklow’s mountain services attended five calls already this month as more and more people take to the mountains.

The woman had sustained an ankle injury whilst walking on the Dublin Mountain Way with a hillwalking group.
Mountain rescue personnel found the woman and treated her for her injury. She was then packaged into a stretcher and transported to an mountain rescue vehicle for transfer to a waiting ambulance. The incident was stood down at 4.20 p.m. that afternoon.
On Thursday, June 9, both mountain rescue teams were contacted by gardai at 4.30 p.m. to help a small group who had become separated from one another in the Derrybawn area. A mountain rescue 4x4 was dispatched onto the forest tracks and came across the missing party. Mountain rescue personnel then transported the missing party down off the hill. Once the group were reunited the operation was stood down.

The man had just begun his descent from the summit when he injured his left ankle. He was given basic first aid and kept warm by his friends until help arrived. Mountain rescue personnel treated the man and transported him off the mountain by stretcher.
