Nerves settled after first exam was completed

-

There were no tears or drama at East Glendalough School as the Leaving and Junior Certificate exams got under way.

Principal Craig Petrie said that the students all seem reasonably happy with the exams so far and is hopeful that this trend will continue.

‘ They all seem happy and are making good progress. They are in good form coming out of the exams and working well. The students generally seem to be staying in the exam hall for the allocated time which is a good sign.

‘ There were some nerves before the exams got under way last Wednesday but once they had completed their first English paper you could see their nerves were more settled. We had opened part of the school in the days before the exams for study and most of the students opted to come in and study here.

‘ There didn’t seem to be any panicking at all and they all seemed pretty focused from the very start.’

Craig said that the some of the students at East Glendalough will be sitting exams right up until the last day but said that others will be finished within days.

‘Some of them have already completed four or five exams at this stage while others will be going right up until 4.30pm on the final Friday. Our Junior Certificate students finish up on Wednesday but again some of them will be finished prior to that.’

He said it was hard to know if the sunny weather had had any effect but said the students had been focused in the lead up to exams.
