Darcy points the way as Tinahely see off Bray

- LIAM O’LOUGHLIN

at Tinahely lead by 0-12 to 1-4 by the break. Darcy also scored a brilliant point from a line ball.

While Des Kelly had added a point and Niall McGraynor had scored two points for the Bray men, the homesters were gaining in confidence and had further scores from Tony Darcy 0-3, Padraig Murphy 0-2, Brian Walsh 0-2 and Stephen Dillon 0-1. Indeed on the verge of half time, Bray did well to escape a Tinahely goal when it appeared inevitable.

Tinahely began the second period as they had finished the first, with Stephan Dillon firing over a point after 30 seconds, with a shot that clipped the top of the crossbar.

Points from Des Kelly and Mikey Browne kept Bray in the hunt but when Brian Walsh, Padraig Murphy and Alan Dillon added points in quick succession, it was becoming clear that the homesters had their tails up and were unlikely to be caught.

Alan Dillon again and Tony Darcy with three points in a row completed the Tinahely tally. For Bray, Niall McGraynor with 0-3 and Des Kelly with a further 0-2, battled manfully but this was Tinahely’s day.

Tinahely will be very pleased with their display just a few weeks out from championship. Their forwards put up a very respectable tally and Tony Darcy certainly knew where the posts were and was a constant thorn in Bray’s side.

Bray Emmets started well and they seemed anxious to find Mickey Browne as often as possible early on.

He scored a fine early goal but as the game wore on, Brian Walsh and Willie Dillon gained control at midfield and this reduced the Bray supply.
