Cup success for Hollywood girls and Baltinglass boys
PAUL Garrigan organised a very successful Gemma Hanlon Memorial Cup tournament in Donard GAA grounds in glorious sunshine with local national schools from Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin all entering both boys and girls teams.
Hollywood NS ladies team won the cup for the third consecutive year after defeating Baltinglass NS in a thrilling final.
Hollywood defeated Ballymore and Baltinglass defeated Old Tallaght Road NS, in the semi finals to reach the final.
Nothing could separate either side in normal time with the scores level, so it went to extra-time, where Daisie Summer Cullen Dunne kicked the winning point for Hollywood side to start mass celebrations.
Hollywood team: Poppie Rose Cullen Dunne, Niamh Byrne, Amber Keenaghan, Roisin Tutty, Roisin Mulvey, Isobel Fitzpatrick, Alex Struycken, Chloe Trundle, Ciara McCann, Liadian McSweeney, Daisie Summer Cullen Dunne.
Orla Hanlon presented the cup to winning captain Daisie Summer Cullen Dunne.
Baltinglass boys won the boys section after an exciting battle with near neighbours Donard in the Final. Tony Hanlon presented the cup to winning captain Tommy Keogh.
Paul Garrigan thanked the Hanlon family, all the participating teams and their teachers, the referee’s and Donard GAA for hosting this very successful event.
