Cup success for Hollywood girls and Baltinglas­s boys

PAUL Garrigan organised a very successful Gemma Hanlon Memorial Cup tournament in Donard GAA grounds in glorious sunshine with local national schools from Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin all entering both boys and girls teams.

Hollywood NS ladies team won the cup for the third consecutiv­e year after defeating Baltinglas­s NS in a thrilling final.

Hollywood defeated Ballymore and Baltinglas­s defeated Old Tallaght Road NS, in the semi finals to reach the final.

Nothing could separate either side in normal time with the scores level, so it went to extra-time, where Daisie Summer Cullen Dunne kicked the winning point for Hollywood side to start mass celebratio­ns.

Hollywood team: Poppie Rose Cullen Dunne, Niamh Byrne, Amber Keenaghan, Roisin Tutty, Roisin Mulvey, Isobel Fitzpatric­k, Alex Struycken, Chloe Trundle, Ciara McCann, Liadian McSweeney, Daisie Summer Cullen Dunne.

Orla Hanlon presented the cup to winning captain Daisie Summer Cullen Dunne.

Baltinglas­s boys won the boys section after an exciting battle with near neighbours Donard in the Final. Tony Hanlon presented the cup to winning captain Tommy Keogh.

Paul Garrigan thanked the Hanlon family, all the participat­ing teams and their teachers, the referee’s and Donard GAA for hosting this very successful event.
