CARNEW EMMETS

-

U12 Football - Carnew 3-2, Michael Dwyer’s 0-8: Carnew travelled to take on Michael Dwyer’s in Kiltegan on Bank Holiday Monday, June 6. It was a close encounter with both teams evenly matched and some good individual displays from both sides. Carnew worked hard all the way through the game and were well rewarded when, with just a few minutes to go and the sides level, Richard Greene scored a great goal that gave the Carnew lads the confidence to hold out until the final whistle was blown.

Roland Chlechowich in goal had some fine saves, while Will Molloy at full back assisted by Cillian Doyle and Jack Brownrigg were solid. Dan Redmond and Jack Keogh were lively in the half back line. Callum Patterson and Richard Greene at mid field made some great runs up the field and were instrumental in Carnew getting some skilful scores.

Ruarí O’Brien and Shane Byrne who had great games were strong in attack. Luke Wallace was on hand to find the back of the net in the first half and his work rate should have had a few more scores but for some fine saves by the Michael Dwyer goal keeper. Conor Neville and Ryan Conway tried hard and kept the Dwyers team under pressure throughout. Brian and Sean Kenny, Zack Jordan and Jack Kelly all played well when introduced in both halves.

Best of luck to the Under-14 Féile team who are taking part in Tipperary on June 17, from the Under-12 team mentors and players.
