Few mistakes here and there cost us the game. Final score: Carnew 2-10, Tinahely 0-9.

Team was: Skinny, Enda, Larry, Bubbles, Tonto, Gavin, Danny, Niall Byrne, and Niall O’Gorman in midfield, Timmy, Willie Quaile, Adam, Bill, Stewart, and the veteran corner-forward Sean Pollard.

Anyone at the game will have seen that Sean was out late the night beforehand celebratin­g Ireland’s victory as there was a lot of black smoke coming out of him.

Golf classic - Our annual golf classic takes place on Friday, July 1, in Coollattin. Team of four is €200. Contact Anthony Darcy on 087 2594515 for tee-off time. Lots of prizes to be won on the day. Hope to see everyone afterwards on the 19th hole.

Ellen Kinch cup - The Ellen Kinch cup was played for last Monday evening in Tinahely between our own ladies team and St. Pats. This was a wonderful game of football and congratula­tions to Tinahely on winning the cup. Well done to everyone involved on the night.

Under-16 - Our Under-16 footballer­s have resumed training after the Junior Cert. We hope they all do as well as they expect.

On the football front we play Avondale away this Thursday night at 7pm. The following Monday we have St. Nics at home. Please come out and support our young players.

Under-16 management and players would like to acknowledg­e the receipt of a new set of jerseys and bags. Anthony D’arcy of Darcy Sand has come on board to help out our footballer­s. A big thank you to Anthony.

On July 9 and 10, our Under-16 footballer­s are heading to Castlebar for a training weekend. We hope to play Breaffy on the Saturday with a training session on the Sunday. We will also take in the Connacht football final in Salthill on the Sunday.

Lotto results for the draw made on June 20 – Numbers drawn were 10, 17, 18, and 26. Bonus number: 28. No jackpot winner.
