NEWTOWN JUNIORS

-

After what was a very satisfactory end to the season where we won some and lost some the various players and teams now get ready to receive their rewards.

Well done to our Under-10s team who received their award from the WDSL on Sunday in the Grand Hotel. Well done to all the players and especially their coach Rory Hackett for all his hard work.

The Under-11s and 12s were meant to receive their medals etc. on Sunday as well but owing to the fantastic exploits from the Boys in Green in France this event has been deferred until Tuesday, June 28, with the following slots for both teams: Under-11s at 6.50pm (Shield) and 7.05pm (League); Under-12s at 6.30pm (Shield) at 7.05pm (League).

Both teams and coaches must be at the Grand Hotel a minimum of 10 minutes before their slot. Well done everyone.

While the schoolboy/girls teams may be finished for a while the Senior ladies are back in training after the exam period and ready for a crack at the Premier Division where the competition will be fierce.

It is a tough task ahead of us but the minimum we would hope for is to consolidate our position in the league and to be as competitive as possible.

Opening Ladies fixture is as follows: Newtown Ladies at home to Shelbourne ‘A’ ko Monday, July 4 at 7.15pm.

In our Last Man Standing competition for the EURO2016, as the selections of all five players still standing in Round 6 all failed to win those five players are deemed to be the last Players left standing and therefore share the Prize Money. All five will receive €107 each: Ally and Ryan Taylor, Damian Hanlon, Lisa Coughlan, Marcus O’Toole, Saundra Martin.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who took part, your support is as always greatly appreciated.

This coming Saturday (July 2) we will hold our Presentation Day out on the Community pitch. Times will be finalised shortly and everyone will be notified in due course. We plan to have loads of football related activities for all ages including in conjunction with our sponsored card event a couple of football related inflatables. Added to that we will also have the annual awards made to all teams.

Four players from the club celebrate their birthdays in the coming week and they are Pat Carey from the academy squad, Keira Farrelly from the Under-10s, Shona Erasmus, goalkeeper with the girls Under-15s and Melanie Clarke from the ladies team.

Happy birthday to all from everyone at Newtown Juniors F.C.

On a sadder note we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kathleen Keeley who sadly passed away last week and to the Noble family on their recent bereavement. May they rest in peace.

For all matters regards the club you can contact the secretary, Hughie, at 087 6987653 or by email at hughienolan@ gmail.com.
