DUBLIN TEENAGER PASSES AWAY AFTER ACCIDENT NEAR ANNAMOE

A TEENAGE boy camping in north Wicklow died on Saturday morning following a car accident near Annamoe.

It is believed that thirteen-year-old Tommy Wall from Dublin was travelling towards Roundwood at around 6.40 a.m. that morning when the car in which he was travelling collided with a fence and went down an embankment.

Both Tommy and the driver managed to get out of the car and started out on foot. A passing motorist noticed them and offered them a lift.

However, shortly afterwards the teenager’s condition began to deteriorat­e and it was decided to drive directly to a hospital.

An ambulance was also called and the control operator told them to stop the car and perform CPR on the boy, as they provided instructio­ns.

The car pulled into the entrance of Roundwood GAA Club and CPR was administer­ed.

An ambulance and fire brigade arrived soon after but, tragically, Tommy was pronounced dead on his way to hospital.

THERE WAS huge shock in north Wicklow on Saturday morning as it emerged that a teenage boy had died following an accident near the village of Annamoe.

Thirteen-year-old Tommy Wall from Tallaght was camping in the village with a large group that included three families and up to 15 children.

Early on Saturday morning, it is believed that the teenager was a passenger in a car heading in the direction of Roundwood, when the vehicle left the R755 at around 6.40 a.m.

The vehicle collided with a fence, went down an embankment and came to rest on its side.

The road between Roundwood and Annamoe was closed for a number of hours on Saturday as Garda Forensic Collison investigat­ors attended the scene.

Gardai wish to appeal to anyone who travelled this road prior to 6.40 a.m. on Saturday morning in either direction and who may have seen the collision or observed or passed the two males walking the road to contact the Gardai at Wicklow on (0404) 60140 or the Garda Confidenti­al Telephone Line 1800 666 111.

A man later appeared in court in connection with the accident.
