Assessment to examine county’ssocial housing needs

-

WICKLOW County Council will carry out an assessment of Wicklow’s social housing needs.

All future lettings of Local Authority owned and leased units will be made from this assessment.

As a result, it is essential that all approved social housing applicants return their forms by Friday, July 29, to Wicklow County Council.

The Social Housing Assessment is a review of all approved applicants for social housing supports who are currently on the Social Housing List with the council.

The information provided by each applicant will be reassessed under the Social Housing Assessment Regulations, taking into account the applicant’s eligibility and need.

Each approved applicant on the social housing list will be written to by the council using their current address. This means anyone who has moved and changed address should contact the Council Housing Section before Friday, July 29, so their details can be updated.

Each approved applicant will be asked to complete a form and provide documentary supporting evidence and return this information to the council.

Anyone having difficulty completing the form should contact the Housing Section for assistance.

If applicants fail to return this information within the specified time period, their application for social housing will be terminated and therefore they will not be considered for future offers of social housing support.

Applicants should note that it will be necessary to restrict opening hours for the Housing Public Counter at County Buildings, Wicklow, effective from Tuesday, August 2, to Tuesday, September 13. The public counter will open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding all Bank Holidays. ANYONE intending to enrol in college in September or who is planning to undertake an undergraduate degree course in any academic field can consider applying for the Katie Taylor Bursary.

The bursary, which was established by the council to honour the success of Bray’s Olympic, World and European boxing champion, is a sports scholarship intended for persons who have excelled at and displayed dedication and potential in their chosen sport.

A bursary of €1,500 will be awarded to the successful applicant for each academic year. The bursary winner will be awarded €4,500 over a three year period, or €6,000 over four years with the approval of Wicklow County Council.

Wicklow County Council now invites applications from students who meet the criteria of the Katie Taylor Bursary.

Application forms are available from the Office of Community, Cultural and Social Development at Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Wicklow.

The closing date for entries is noon on Friday, August 12.
