Impressive Tinahely go on scoring spree

-

Tinahely midfield started to take control and with Aine Byrne at centre-back and the full-back line of Ciara Stokes, Sarah Hogan and Emily Hadden well in control, the Clara forwards were offered few chances.

The Tinahely forwards, however, tagged on a few more points from Sarah Byrne and Ciara Byrne before Laura Hogan turned her marker and fired home Tinahely’s first goal.

Aoife Gorman followed up five minutes later after receiving the ball from Aimee Maher and fired home a great goal.

At this stage Tinahely were in full control and although Clara battled well young Aimee Maher dispossessed Lorna Driver on her own 13 metre line and played the ball to Emily Hadden. From there the Tinahely girls played some lovely football involving Emily Mulhall and Jessy Byrne before Ciara Byrne hit a 30-metre through ball to the talented Sarah Byrne and Sarah hit the net for the third Tinahely goal, which even brought applause from the large Clara support.

To round off matters both Emily O’Reilly and Aoife Gorman added some points before Jessy Byrne hit the net from about 20 yards with an unstoppable shot.

This was again a great team performance From Tinahely, with all six forwards getting on the scoresheet. At full-back Sarah Hogan was in great form and well supported by Emily Hadden and Ciara Stokes.

Aine Byrne at centre-back looks rock solid with young Aimee Maher getting better with each game and Niamh Kenny back to her best.

Tinahely have now topped the group. As we approach the business end of the season there will be stronger tests for these girls and the management team of Shane Kenny, John Blake, Jimmy Barry Murphy and Sinead Byrne will hope these girls will keep improving.
