FOUR EATERIES INCLUDED ON BORD BIA MAP
Four award-winning Wicklow restaurants feature in a new interactive map as part of Bord Bia’s Just Ask initiative.
All of the featured restaurants have been selected by Bord Bia and renowned food writer Georgina Campbell for excellence in sourcing and serving local foods.
Developed in response to consumers’ increasing support of local foods, the Just Ask map allows diners to easily locate award-winning restaurants close by for a meal featuring the best of Irish foods.
Twenty restaurants from Leinster are featured, including The Strawberry Tree at Brooklodge, Grangecon Cafe, Avoca at Mount Usher Gardens and Rathsallagh House.
Each month, Bord Bia and renowned food writer Georgina Campbell award a Just Ask Restaurant of the Month to recognise best practice in transparency in food sourcing, encouraging engagement in food provenance.
The multi-award winning Strawberry Tree Restaurant is Ireland’s only certified organic restaurant dedicated to wild and organic foods.
Daily menus at The Strawberry Tree Restaurant pay homage to local producers and suppliers by listing their names on the menus. That way, guests dining at The Strawberry Tree know exactly where the produce comes from.
James Kavanagh is Head Chef of The Strawberry Tree and he and his team have a great passion for, and understanding of wild and organic foods.
‘I’d like to think that the relationship that we have with our organic farmers and artisan producers is what makes us stand out from the rest and this comes across in the attention to detail and care given to the produce that they provide us with.’
The Avoca Cafe is located in the midst of one of the world’s loveliest Robinsonian-style garden at Mount Usher, and is open all year,
Rathsallagh House is a country house hotel set in 530 acres of peaceful parkland with its own walled garden in Dunlavin
Grangecon Café provides customers with the most delicious and healthiest food possible by sourcing the very best ingredients from local, organic, free range, Irish and seasonal produce.
Georgina Campbell praised all the restaurants included for leading the way when it comes to sourcing local produce.
