CHARLESLAND Golf Club in Greystones officially opened its newly re-designed and hotly anticipated holes at a special event with its members on Friday evening.

Along with the re-design, Carr Golf, working with owners’ the Evans family, also unveiled a new three-hole academy on the grounds.

The golf developments are part of a wider €1 million refurbishment the Evans family have undertaken to strengthen the club’s offering.

Built by the Evans family in the 1990’s, Charlesland Golf Club appointed Carr Golf to operate on their behalf in 2015.

The intention was they would use their specialised expertise to improve the presentation of the course and propel the business to a new level alltogether.

Since then, the club has secured over 210 new members.

Carr Golf, a specialist in golf club management and maintenance, re-developed the opening holes of the course to merge holes one and two, along with building a new par 3 sixth hole, set against a back-drop of the Sugar Loaf in Wicklow.

A brand new three-hole academy course has also been developed utilising land in the club which now provides members and visitors with a great new practice facility for beginners and juniors to develop their skills.

Speaking about the plans for the golf course, Ed Pettit, Managing Director at Carr Golf said the intention was to highlight the potential of Charlesland as a leading lifestyle destination.

‘Carr Golf Group has been working with golf clubs, such as Charlesland, throughout Ireland to transform their golf business and course presentation.

‘ The new South Beach Pavilion will provide members and visitors with a much improved offering along with making it a great destination for those looking for an overall lifestyle enjoyment and well-being experience.’

Ken Kearney’s work beautifully compliments the work of Ireland’s first and most prolific of golf course architects, Eddie Hackett, who designed the 6,000+ metre parkland course that is maintained to the highest standards and scenically skirts the Irish Sea for the best part of the front nine holes.

The home run is true parkland with many attractive and demanding holes where water comes into play on five holes.

Founded in 1992, Charlesland Golf Club offers a great golfing experience and is renowned for the quality of its welcome and its service.

Charlesland Golf Club also offers superb accommodation comprising 12 well-appointed, spacious en suite rooms, and there is a welcoming bar and restaurant.

The conference and meeting facilities add to make this an ideal business venue.

While a fully stocked modern pro-shop, range facilities, buggy, trolley and club hire offers all any golf lover could possibly need.

The course offers magnificent views stretching from the Mourne Mountains to Wicklow Head.

The Irish Cancer Society is the chosen charity for 2016.
