MEP Ní Riada visits Tiglin
Sinn Féin MEP Liadh Ní Riada and Wicklow TD John Bray were recent visitors to Tiglin in Ashford.
The duo toured the Tiglin rehabilitation facilities and were amazed with the impact that the organisation was having, not only on the east coast but also nationally.
Ms Ní Riada complimented Tiglin’s CEO Phil Thompson on providing a professional and much needed service on a shoestring budget through these tough times.
Deputy John Brady voiced his concern at the lack of state funding for this much-needed service, while witnessing first hand the impact that Tiglin has had in his constituency. He also stressed the importance that such individuals have a voice and that voice needs to be heard in Dáil Éireann.
MEP Ní Riada was fascinated by the new provision of third level courses for all residents at the Tiglin centre and congratulated students on their achievements to date.
Women’s and men’s centres operate out of Tiglin, where individuals are provided with an effective and comprehensive solution to addiction problems, including gambling, in order to become productive members of society.
Tiglin also operates an Outreach bus to provide food, clothing and blankets for the homeless and to build relationships with people on the streets.
