Game to watch

furrow at times in the Annacurra forward line and was always willing to make the runs and earn the hard yards. He won a free out near the side-line that was brought closer to goal due to dissent. Horan kicked over the easy free. That next kick out was won by Mick O’Brien who passed to on-rushing Martin O’Brien to go up the field. He gave the correct pass to Horan for a goal.

A Garrett Bell free and a Dean Barnes point closed out the half with Annacurra leading by 1-5 to 4 points.

Hollywood came out in the second half like a train but could only convert two of their five shots, Tyrell kicking the first before being fouled by O’Brien for the second. Horan responded with a free to put a goal between the teams after 40 minutes. Hollywood got the next two scores by Thomas Burke and Stephen Kearney and both stemmed from poor Annacurra hand passing giving possession cheaply to Hollywood.

That brought them within one, Horan responded with a free to double the lead and then Annacurra kicked their second free less than the required distance to give Bell a guaranteed point and put them minimum between the teams again.

Four minutes later Tyrell ran 30 metres with barely a glove being laid on him and his shot dropped just short but Matthew Kelly got a hand to the ball for a goal. It was the least Hollywood deserved. With time almost up Tyrell ran, once again, with the ball through a tackle and into space to fist the ball over the bar for a well-deserved victory.

Hollywood will play Bray Emmets in the next round of the championship but can’t rely on Tyrell alone again to win. Annacurra enter the Keating Cup but if they perform like that again they’ll be lucky not to get relegated.
