Murphy’s men rejoice after victory over Blues
at Hollywood card from the referee Liam Cullen. Blessington determined to further the gap again managed to chip on two points; the first one from a free, which Eddie Boylan kicked and another free for Blessington, which again turned into a throw-up due to mouthing. But Blessington got the better of it and Conor Ryan scored a point just before half-time whistle leaving the score with Blessington in the lead 0-07 to 0-04.
The throw in for the second half then took place with Blessington winning it and Eddie Boylan scoring a corker of a point in the first 20 seconds of the half. Baltinglass’ Paudie Swinbourne managed another point a minute later.
Blessington’s Kyle Geraghty was brought on for Colm Miley. Not long after that, Swinbourne scored another point from a free.
Dara Ryan was grounded from a fierce shoulder as the hits were flying in. Eddie Boylan pointed yet again from a free.
Then Baltinglass rallied again and managed the first goal of the game in the ninth min of the second half by James Quinn who fired high into the roof of Behan’s net.
With only a point between them and Blessington, Baltinglass drove hard and Micheal English popped over a point to level proceedings.
Tommy Cullen for Baltinglass pointed to restore the lead, at the same time Blessington’ s Dara Ryan was injured badly and had to be taken off and Colm Miley was brought back on.
Blessington trying to make a come back replied with a brilliant pass from Gavin Murray into Eddie Boylan who buried a shot past Keogh into the net.
However Baltinglass were having none of it, Chris Heaslip scored a second goal for the Slaneysiders in the next attack to keep the Blues at arms length with five minutes to play.
Blessington threw everything at Baltinglass in the final few minutes, however, Lee Furlong pointed and Fabian Dunne was introduced to stem the blue tide. Blessington pointed on 60 minutes to leave two in it and in a storming finish, a fisted ball by Thomas Donoghue somehow crept the wrong side of the Baltinglass post as the full-time whistle sounded.
Two defeats in six days will leave Peter Behan’s Blues hurting while Con Murphy’s men will be delighted with a morale boosting win as this group tightens up.
