ST PATRICK’S

-

The Senior men had their second championship game this weekend where they were up against Coolkenno in Aughrim.

They picked up a great victory scoring 1-15 to Coolkenno’s eight points to reach the championship quarter-final.

Congratulations to all involved with our Junior A’s who had a fine win against Bray in their final group game in Greystones in Friday evening.

They have now topped Group 1 in the Junior ‘A’ football championship.

Our Minors travelled to Donard in Round 2 of the Minor football championship to play St. Nicholas.

The lads had played some good football in the opening half to lead by 1-06 to 0-06 at the half-hour.

Following some costly errors in the second half St Nicks ran out winners on the final score of 4-10 to 2-10.

The Junior ladies had their last group game of the championship on Monday evening. They faced An Tochar in Roundwood and needed to a win to secure a place in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the ladies lost narrowly by a point in what was an exciting game. Our own Liz Malone suffered a bad knock in the game and we hope she has recovered well.

The Under-16 girls played Tinahely in Dunbur on Wednesday evening in the league grabbing a victory, 1-10 to 1-06.

Last Friday we welcomed Carnew Under-14 girls to Dunbur Park for the Division 3 county league semi-final.

This game ebbed and flowed through out the first half with both teams trading early scores which saw St. Pat’s lead 0-03 to 0-01 after 11 minutes. Carnew then hit us with two goals which saw them reach half-time leading 2-3 to 0-4.

The St. Pat’s girls hit a purple patch just after half time and managed to score 1-3 without reply and we went ahead 1-7 to 2-3 in the 42nd minute.

However, the southern lassies heaped on the pressure and along with some wayward passing and errors by us, we conceded 2-2 in a five-minute spell.

It was too much to retrieve but we kept trying right to the final whistle, but at the end of the evening the better team had won.

Final Score: St. Patricks 1-08, Carnew Emmets 4-08. All the girls who turned out on the evening gave it their all. Best of luck to the Carnew girls in the league final.
