Our Senior football team lost to Avondale in the second round of the county Senior football championship at Aughrim on Sunday evening the final score 2-10 to 1-11.

We gave Avondale the perfect start as we kicked a line ball from 40 yards from our goals back to our goals which resulted in an error from our goal keeper which resulted in a goal for Avondale.

We were always chasing the game from this time and a penalty soon after words which they scored left us a mountain to climb after playing with the breeze in the first half we went in at halftime 2-4 to 1-4.

We played some good football in the second half when we squandered many good chances of scores but never could get the goal we needed to win the game and Avondale went down to win the game by a two point margin.

Our scores came from Anthony Furlong 1-3, Cathal Fitzgerald and Rory Finn, two points each, Derek Daly, Mickey Foley, Geoffrey Bermingham, Padraig Keogh, a point each.

The lotto numbers for this week were 9, 11, 16, and 26. No winner. Match three winner was Rose O’Conner. Next week’s jackpot: €5,000.
