Tinahely topple Lacken

- PAT DUNNE

at Lacken was a thorn in Lacken’s defense through out.

Sean Murphy, Aaron Griffith and Tom Broe were all keeping the lakesides in tow.

As the half-time score was five points each it was looking like whoever goaled would take charge of this game.

As in the first half David Dillon pointed with the opener with 37 minutes played. Sean Murphy kicked a great point once again to level for Lacken.

Both sides turned over ball and missed scoring chances. This was cat and mouse for a while till with 50 minutes played David Dillion pumped in the Hail Mary ball into the danger zone to where the evergreen Brian Hickey fisted to the net to put Tinahely ahead. However, Gerry O Neill’s army weren’t going down without a fight as tempers flared and referee John Whyte was on full alert.

Lacken added three points to leave two in it going into injury time. Brian Hickey added a point before somehow Lacken’s Sean Murphy blazed his effort over the bar with the goal at his mercy with what should have levelled the game for Lacken.
