We’re Tipp-ing Wickow to win Garden women well capable

- WICKLOW LADIES

Preview WICKLOW will travel to the midland venue of St. Loman’s G.A.A. in Mullingar next Saturday at 2pm to do battle with Tipperary in the All-Ireland Intermdiate quarter-final.

This TG4 Ladies Intermediate quarter-final pits together two exciting sides with a semi-final spot against either Clare or Tyrone as a reward for the victors.

Tipperary, who proved victorious in Division 3 of the N.F.L., will look towards the likes of Aisling Moloney and veteran Mairead Morrissey along with midfielder Lorraine O’Shea.

Their defence will be strong too with Jennifer Grant and Anne O’Dwyer playing well throughout the league.

However the Garden county side have their own strength and in the defensive quartet of Lorna Fusciardi, Sarah Miley, Emily Mulhall and Sarah Hogan, and with the ever vigilent Kim Connors holding the fort in goal Wicklow will not be found wanting in a brave defensive effort.

At midfield the combination of Niamh McGettigan and Jackie Kinch are a match for any midfield while in attack the young Marie Kealy, Laura Hogan, Amy Murphy and Rose Fagan will burst every sinew to try and ensure the scores are got to get the Wicklow side over the line.

While Tipperary are favourites the Wicklow girls have shown in their wins over Roscommon and Down that they are a side to be reckoned with and will be sure to give their all to progress.

The Tipperary team have not played since early July and this gap between their games is certainly a worry to their management and this delay could stand to the wicklow side.

Wicklow will want everything to go well for them and hopefully there will be a huge swell of support for this team who are attempting to bring further glory to the Garden county.

So let’s get down to Mullingar and lend our voices to cheer our girls on.
