ANNACURRA TURN TABLES

- KEATING TROPHY

at Baltinglass over lots of possession. Ciaran Tyrell pulled a free wide for Hollywood. Michael O’Brien punched a goal chance wide before Clive Horan and Michael Healy closed out the scoring with a point each to leave the half-time score: Annacurra 0-07 to 0-02 for Hollywood.

The question at the break was if the lead was big enough with the wind, as Annacurra had amassed 10 wides to Hollywood’s three in the opening half.

In fact, Annacurra opened the scoring with a point from a free for Dean Barnes to further the lead.

Full-back for Hollywood Harry Wilson was dominant and broke up the field and scored a smashing point to get Hollywood up and running with the aid of the strong breeze. However, it was Hollywood’s turn to let Annacurra of the hook as Hollywood hit four bad rushed wides in a row.

In the 40th minute, Ciaran Tyrell rattled the back of Fitzgerald’s net with a pile driver as Hollywood hit a purple patch with great work by Harry Wilson who possibly should have been moved out the field.

Niall Clarke kicked over a point and Stephen Kearney levelled matters with a monster of a point in the 48th minute.

It was looking like one way traffic at this stage. Alan Byrne moved out around midfield and won possession and sent in a long ball into the danger zone. Hollywood defender Shane Kelly looked to be pulled back, but Michael O’Brien finished the ball to the net in the 50th minute in a huge turning point.

A minute later a shell-shocked Hollywood suffered another hammer blow as Alan Byrne goaled as they were still protesting with the Donard official from the first goal.

In the 55th minute Alan Horan picked up a straight red card for a high tackle on Eoin Burke. Thomas Burke pointed a free for Hollywood a minute later. We had handbags for a few moments as things got heated.

Hollywood brought on John Teehan Burke and had to go in search of a badly needed goal to get back into the game.

Chris Keogh was introduced for Annacurra and Cian Tyrell for Hollywood.

Alan Byrne had now moved back into defence and was clearing a lot of ball to keep Hollywood at bay. A Clive Horan point from a free eased the pressure on Annacurra in the 60th minute.

Ciaran Tyrell pointed in the 64th minute to close out the scoring in the game.

So now Hollywood play Tinahely in a must win game to remain Senior along with a good score, as it’s possible this group could also depend on Tinahely v Annacurra result as it could come down to score difference between the three teams.
