Carnew put to the sword

Mulhall and PJ O’Keefe with two, added points for Coolboy before a fantastic pass from Mulhall found Michael Gregan in space who fisted another.

Carter added a third point for himself with a fine individual effort before Coolboy struck for their second major of the game.

An effort from PJ O’Keefe rebounded back of the post into the path of Michael Gregan who palmed the goal backwards into the goal amid appeals from the Carnew players.

Stephen Carter added a final point of the half for Coolboy before John Joe Myers added a point on the stroke of half-time from a free which was brought forward for dissent.

The second half continued in the same vain as the first as Coolboy struck for a early goal to add to their tally. Michael Gregan and Dan Nolan were heavily involved and it was that man Carter again who raised a green flag to add to his earlier points.

Dan Nolan and Wayne Kinsella were enjoying dominance in the middle allowing a platform for their forward line to build on.

The full-back line of Garrett Gregan, Johnny Willoughby and James Gregan kept every Carnew attack at arms length with tenacious tackling and extreme pressure.

Carnew did breach the security line however from a Seamus Osborne 45 that rebounded back to his cousin Michael who tapped over a score.

Coolboy struck for their fourth major on 12e minutes after PJ Mulhall created space for Kevin O’Keefe to venture into and the wing forward showed good composure to slot past Murphy in the goal.

John Joe Myers added a final point for Carnew before Mulhall, PJ O’Keefe, Carter and Aaron Kinsella all put the gloss on the score line for the Coolboy men who advance into the semi finals where they will face Kilcoole but going on recent performances, they are a team to fear.
