Rathdrum ladies begin with a convincing win

through the Carlow tackle and across the line. The half closed 15 -0.

The second half was a quieter affair, with Carlow retaining possession for the beginning of the half.

The signs that this was the first game of the season became evident as some simple errors from the Rathdrum side allowed Carlow to attack.

However, the defence held firm and thwarted all of Carlow’s efforts.

Despite some fine runs from Orla Redmond, and a late covering tackle preventing Sue Brady from adding to score board, there were to be no more tries in the second half.

Dowling easily tapped over a penalty in front of the posts to close the game 18-0 to Rathdrum.

The women will take many positives from the game, but will not be content with the second half performance. They now build towards welcoming Tullamore to the Ivy Leaf Grounds on Sunday the 25th of September.
