WICKLOW ROVERS

On the senior front, the senior men’s game away to Clondalkin Celtic was called off at the weekend. The under-17s got their first win of their debut season in the DDSL when they defeated Cabinteely 3-2, Jack Dunne, Eli Graham and Stephen Finlay all scored one a piece in a closely fought game.

In junior action during the week the 12Bs travelled to Coolboy where they lost out on a narrow 1-0 score line. The lads controlled the game for the majority of the match but just couldn’t get the all important goal. When they did eventually find the net in the dying seconds straight from a corner it was strangely ruled out for offside.

The under-14Bs came into direct opposition with their club mates the ‘C’ team. The B team ran out winners when Ethan Allen hit an excellent hattrick, Ben Free fired in two with David Lally and Reece Doyle scoring one each. The Cs battled right to the end but had no luck in front of goal.

On Saturday the under-13Bs lost out 3-2 in a five goal thriller at home to Glencormac Utd, this game was end to end throughout and could have went either way, Tim Hastie nabbed both the Rovers goals.

Our 14Cs went down 7-1 to a very strong Greystones Utd side, to the lads credit they gave a hundred percent and never dropped their heads with Kevin Leonard scoring their consolation goal.

The under-16As were involved in a tight tussle with Avonmore at the Whitegates, the match ended up in a 2-2 draw with Shane Lincoln and Nathan Sullivan scoring the Rovers goals.

Sunday’s action saw the under-12Bs play out an exciting 2-2 draw with Roundwood, after racing into an early two goal lead with goals from Ben Bowen and Harry Tobin Kelly they saw themselves pegged back with the away team fighting back to earn a share of the spoils.

Our under-13As continued their good start to the season with an excellent 2-0 away win over Aughrim Rgrs, Willoughby Woods and Mark Hodgkinson fired home their goals to make it two wins from two, six goals scored and none conceded.

The under-14As playing a year ahead of themselves registered their second win from two with an exciting 3-2 win over Newtown Juniors, with the game tied at 2-2 Rovers snatched a winner in the dying stages in a game that could have went either way with both sides having chances to add to their total. Ross Quinn made it four goals in two games with another brace with Eoin Doyle nabbing his first of the season.

The under-15As earned a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Coolboy Rgrs, so far the lads considering all the upheaval during the summer have got off to a decent start with a win and a draw from their first two game, Dylan Moorehouse scored their goal.

The under-15Bs suffered a 7-1 defeat away to Aughrim Rgrs, the home side were the more clinical in front of goal and the only answer the lads had was a Thomas O’Neill goal.

Our under-16Bs recorded a comfortable 9-1 victory over Aughrim Rgrs in the Rocky Road, Ryan Murphy led the way with an excellent hat-trick, Nathan Wynne, Luke Durac McGowan, Javier Rodriguez, Xavho Garcia, Brandon Aronu and Jack O’Gorman all hit single to complete the nine goal haul.
