GAA season ticket could be your Christmas gift solution

- GIFT IDEA

WICKLOW GAA treasurer Colm Finnegan informed the County Board meeting in Ballinakill on Monday night that the season ticket for the GAA county scene has just been announced and that it will cost €99 for the season.

“The county receives €45 back from each ticket sold,” he said. “The juvenile season ticket is €20, there’s also a ticket where you can watch all your county teams and get the club fixtures in the county as well and that’s €200 and the extra €101 comes back to the county.

“As it stands at the moment only six people have bought the adult season ticket and only one person has the added club plus season ticket. The reason I mention it is because it’s actually a good idea, if anyone who might be wondering what the hell to buy their father, partner, bother sister, whatever for a present for Christmas, there you are,” he said.

Finnegan went on to say that this weekend’s county semi-finals on Saturday.

“The entrance price for the Junior ‘A’ semi-finals (in Arklow on Saturday) is €10. The Senior semi-finals (in Aughrim) are €15. But anyone who pays the full price on Saturday will get a ticket for the following day at a concession price of €10 for the following day so you will only be charged €25 rather than €30,” he added.

“We’re reviewing the county development draw and we’ll be coming with it to the next County Board meeting for approval to go to Congress.

“We are working on that at the moment and we’ll have it at the October County Board meeting.

“Some clubs feel that it’s unfair to levy them with tickets so we are looking at other ways, alternative ways of bringing in the revenue,” said Martin Coleman.
