- PAT DUNNE U-14 football at Baltinglass

the ball repeatedly as putting the ball dead would’ve been a better option. Back came Tinahely with another Jake O’Kelly point. Adam Martin hit Baltinglass’ sixth and final point of the first half.

Bradley Hickey pulled his effort wide with a goal at his mercy, however, Matthew Ging goaled in the 31st minute as the half-time whistle sounded with the score reading Baltinglass 0-06 to 1-09 for Tinahely.

The second half started at 100 miles an hour as Jason Kenny’s goal bound shot was well saved and cleared for a 45 by Tomas Hayden. Jack Hanlon pointed the 45.

Tinahely broke up the field and Bradley Hickey scored a goal for the visitors.

But then Baltinglass then hit a purple patch with Evan Frahill pointing and the impressive Hugh O’Toole scoring a rocket of a goal in the 37th minute.

Jack Hanlon pointed and then he hit a screamer from 40 yards out which crashed from the underside of the bar into the net and levelled the match 2-09 apiece after 39 minutes.

Jason Kenny had a great goal chance but drove his shot over the bar to let Tinahely off the hook.

Tinahely hit two bad wides then and George Hadden was lucky to escape only with a yellow card for a trip on Jack Hanlon.

In the 44th minute Matthew Ging scored a rasper of a goal to put the Tinahely lads back in front.

Niall O Connor then pointed before Hugh O’Toole fisted a ball the wrong side of the post as another goal chance went a begging for Baltinglass.

Tinahely punished them with a brace of goals by Jake O’Kelly and Matthew Ging, which looked to have won the game, to leave it 5-09 to 2-11.

Yet again Baltinglass rose up another gear. Adam Martin pointed and Hugh O’Toole hit his second goal of the game and Niall O’Connor pointed to reduce the deficit.

Hugh O’Toole went in search of his hat-trick only to be denied by an unbelievable save by Tomas Hayden. Moments later Hayden had a point blank save from Jason Kenny in the 58th minute.

A Matthew Ging pointed free followed by a point from the boot of Jake O’Kelly closed out the scoring to bring an end to this belter of a game.
