SOUTH EAST ROAD CLUB

-

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for both the racing and touring section of the south east road club.

Recently the national underage champs took place in Kanturk and our very own Conor Shortt took a fantastic bronze in the under-14 race. This comes as no surprise as Conor has been improving race after race huge congratulations from all in club.

Three members from our touring section made their way to Waterford for the Sean Kelly tour. A gruelling route with some very tough climbs covering a distance of over 100km. Well done to Marion O’Regan, Michael Shiels and Jason O’Toole.

Our annual club champs took place over a short but demanding circuit which saw some very fast racing indeed.

Following on from his win in last years event Liam Curley once again took the win with Derrick Evans second and Ronan Shortt third well done to all for taking part.

On Sunday last, September 11, saw the running of the Laragh Classic over a tough hilly course. A great result for SERC in the A4 race with Wayne Byrne taking a fantastic fifth place.

That brings the racing season to an end for this year, the committee would like to thank everyone who helped out in any way as these events would not be possible without your help and commitment.

This week sees two members Ben Holmes and Paul Forde take on the Paris2Nice charity cycle which will see the lads cover 700 Km in five days. Ben and Paul are raising funds for the Wicklow Hospice Foundation and all at the club wish the lads the very best of luck. All donations would be greatly appreciated.

Club spins continue every Sunday mornings leaving Fern Hill plaza at 9.30am new members very welcome.
