Arts Trail will be part of new ‘Inktoberfest’ in Wicklow town

-

Wicklow town welcomes a new arts festival this Saturday featuring a mix of local, Irish and overseas artists.

Organiser Paul McCann has a BA in Fine Arts from NCAD and a Masters from the Chelsea College of Arts.

He returned to Wicklow town after living for a time over in London and decided to organise ‘Inktoberfest.

‘We held open submissions and received a brilliant response from all sorts of artists. We had to select some artists from the list and 26 people will feature overall. There is a huge range of work involved, from artists who draw to documentary makers and sculptors to print makers and video installations,’ says Paul.

The artists set to feature include Mark Beatty, Laura Condon, Markus Davies, Luke Drozd, Rhian Foley, Jenny Gordon, Noel Hensey, Genuine Laminate, Michael Lawton, Eleanor Lines, Kathryn McShane, Michael Murphy, Doireann Ni Ghrioghair, Fergus Niland, Cillian Roche, Tamsin Snow, Ronan Tuite, Conor Walton, Susanne Wawra, Fiona Whitty and Conor Wickham.

The Assembly Hall will be the main location featuring most of the work and act as the beginning of the art trail.

A map will lead the audience on to the two other retail spaces in the town, where further exhibitions will be held.

Following the festival launch a gig will be taking place upstairs in Ta Sé’s Bar by the reunited Wicklow band Bocs Social.
