Seven tasty semi-finals on the GAA menu this weekend

-

IT’S a major weekend for semi-finals in Wicklow GAA with seven last four football battles up for decision around the county.

Two of those semi-finals are the replays of the Junior ‘A’ football semi-finals between Coolboy and Kilcoole and Ashford and St Pat’s.

Lee Dutton and Shaun Vickers were the men who saved the day for Kilcoole and St Pat’s respectively last weekend and both these games will go right down to the wire this Sunday in Rathnew (Ashford v St Pat’s, 11.30am, Sunday) and Dunbur Park (Coolboy and Kilcoole, 12.30am, Sunday).

Two mighty battles await football fans in Pearses’ Park in Arklow on Sunday afternoon as well when the Junior ‘B’ semi-finals get underway.

Up first is the meeting of the capable Enniskerry side and the proud men of Kiltegan at 2pm in what should be a very entertaining clash.

Directly after that game there is a real humdinger in the making when Knockananna take on Rathnew in the second semi-final.

Knockananna are intent on returning to Junior ‘ A’ football while Rathnew will be hoping that their Junior ‘B’ team can salvage something from their adult championship season.

There are two Minor ‘ A’ football semi-finals on this weekend as well.

On Friday night in Ballinakill at 8pm it’s the turn of Baltinglass and Pearse Gaels to do battle while on Sunday in Ballinakill at 11.30am the high-flying AGB Minors take on Avondale.

In Blessington on Sunday morning Kilcoole will discover their Junior ‘C’ football championship final opponents when An Tochar and Donard-The Glen go to war at 11.30am.

It promises to be a hectic weekend of action and Wicklow People Sport will be bringing you the Senior hurling and Junior ‘B’ football clashes live. Check out the Facebook page ahead of the games.
