However this young inexperienced Baltinglass team impressed those who travelled. The seemed to eradicate the handling errors which they were guilty of against Coolkenno and their appetite to turnover ball and to work for each other was truly impressive.

It was a good victory over a good side, but a much tougher task awaits them in the county final as they take on a very experienced St. Pat’s team. It is a challenge which we have no doubt the boys will relish. Well done to the team, and their management. It is great to have a county final to look forward to.

The Senior ladies took part in the All-Ireland Sevens on Saturday. They beat Clontarf in the first match, 9-05 to 1-10. They had another great win in their second match against Burring Gales of Clare which they won by 11-07 to 2-04. They were to record their third and fourth wins of the day against Longford and Inniskeen, to bring them to the semi-final.

However, this was to be a bridge too far as they were to be beaten in the semi. Well done to Paul Kenny and his backroom team for the great work that they have done this year and to the girls who have never been lacking in effort.

Wednesday night was a hive of activity in the club as it was the last day of the academy season. The academy began back in April where boys and girls came to have fun whilst learning the many skills of GAA.

The coaches, Patsy, Alison, Bernie, Carmel, Maritna, Rob Tomas and Sinead set out many fun and interesting stations where the children were taught the many skills of football. Each week the numbers of children grew.

On Wednesday, 49 children received medals and certificates for their achievements. Thanks to all the parents and families for your support throughout the season. We are looking forward to next year. The further of Baltinglass GAA Club is well and truly bright.

No business like show business - And there’s no laugh like looking at a bunch of former footballers, current footballers, supporters and general messers willing to take to the stage in aid of the club.

Broadway training has commenced and without a doubt Baltinglass does not lack talent. Whether it is the talent needed to carry off a big show presentation is – lets just say questionable.

However, one thing that will not be lacking is effort. We were delighted with the support that Broadway has received so far. The turn out for our first rehearsal was almost 100 per cent and not to deter those who were not able to make the first rehearsal, you will not be asked to stand on stage and perform the hits of the Bee Gees in full costume at the second rehearsal.

It’s a bit of fun, and the monies received from it will go towards developing the back pitch into an all weather adult pitch and two juvenile pitches.

The plans for the development are impressive but as with everything, the cost is quite large. Our singers and chancers will
