CARNEW EMMETS

-

Carnew had a very comprehensive victory over Bray Emmets (B) team when they met at the Centre of Excellence Complex in Ballinakill on Saturday, September 17.

This victory was never in doubt as Carnew came out with all guns blazing in the first half and had built up a substantial lead by half-time.

Carnew, who had a big panel of players to choose from, gave everyone some game time and the players that came on were as clinical as their predecessors and so the scores kept ratcheting up on the score board. A beautiful autumn afternoon for a game of football and both teams obliged with an entertaining game.

Daniel Redmond accepted the cup on behalf of the Carnew team and in his captain’s speech he thanked all those who had helped during the year. The lads are now looking forward to the hurling final and expecting a tougher challenge from the same rivals who undoubtedly will be seeking revenge for such a grubbing in the football.

Never the less the Carnew lads are well up for the challenge and hope to make it two out of two for the second year running.

The Minors played Glenealy and play Avondale on Friday

The Intermediate footballers play Ballymanus on Sunday at 12.30pm in the play-offs. The under-12s played Bray. Get well wishes go to Jim O’Sullivan, Umrigar.
