AGB survive late scare from Avondale to reach Minor final

at Ballinakill ed for AGB but in the 40th minute Conor Byrne sent in a high ball to the danger zone where Kyle O’Connor spilled the ball and full-forward Donal McGraynor was in like a light to finish the ball to the net for Avondale.

Both sides were guilty of turning over possession and kicking a number of bad wides.

Cathal Kelleher pointed again before Conor Byrne kicked a monster off a point from 65m which bounced over the bar as Avondale refused to buckle.

AGB hit three points on the trot as they looked home and dry but Andrew Doyle, Oisin McGraynor and Jordan Kinsella each pointed for Avondale with two minutes of normal to play.

Then Avondale were dealt a hammer blow when they lost Conor Byrne on a black card moments later but all was not lost as Marc Baker sent another ball into the danger zone and sensationally Kinsella found the back of the AGB net in the 63rd minute to leave two points in it.

Each side lost a player to a red card moments later as things heated up with after an altercation between a number of player’s before the full-time whistle sounded to bring an end to this Titanic battle.
