- CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL

Round-up HURLING Skills on Show by the Boys - Day two of the Allianz Boys Hurling League took place in Bray Emmets GAA Club last Wednesday.

Although the sun was shining, there was gusty wind blowing all afternoon, but it didn’t stop all the teams from displaying their wonderful hurling skills.

St Pats, Wicklow Town, Glenealy NS, Gaelscoil Cill Mhantáin, Newtown PS, Kilcoole PS, St Kevins, St Lawrences, Gaelscoil Clocha Liatha, Scoil Chualann, St Cronans and St Fergals were the schools in attendance.

The focus of the blitz was participation and to have as many children as possible playing hurling. All schools were presented with six sliotars as a reward for their participation in Allianz Cumann na mBunscol blitzes. Many thanks to our referees on the day and especially to Garret Doyle and Dave Barry for their assistance in organising a wonderful day.

Camogie Girls show great teamwork - The first Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Camogie blitz took place in Bray Emmets GAA Club. The main objectives for this blitz were that the girls got to play as much camogie as possible and to focus on being the best players they could be.

There were five schools taking part with some schools bringing two teams with them. Each team got to play four games and the effort and enthusiasm show by each girl who played is a great marker for the future of camogie in Wicklow.

The following teams took part; Scoil Chualann, Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin (1 and 2), Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, St Fergals (1and 2) and Kilcoole.

There were fine displays of striking, hooking and blocking as well as fantastic teamwork and support to fellow teammates. Many thanks to all who helped on the day: the referees, Dave Barry and Garrett Doyle.

Finally, many thanks to all the schools who took part, to the children who tried their best and the teachers who help them to participate.

Tá súil agam go rachaidh na scoileanna seo ó neart go neart agus iad ag traenáil. See you all at the next blitz!
